Following a new immigration shake up by the Federal government, the Australian migrants could bring their parents to the country in a new visa that allow them to stay in the country for 10 years. However they would have to pay a huge amount of $20,000 for the visa.
According to the reports, under the new visa expected to be announced in the upcoming budget, they would never be allowed to settle in Australia. It is also said that the financial burden of healthcare for migrant parents will have to be shouldered by their children and also the sponsors would legally be required to pay for their private health insurance as well.
The children of the migrant parents will also need to act as financial guarantor on any extra healthcare costs for their parents while in Australia.
“there's great expense to the taxpayer in relation to health costs over time with elderly parents,” says Assistant Immigration Minister Alex Hawke to SBS .
